When I returned from my leave in May last year and took over the duties of Assistant Harbor Master, Mr Lister made application and received the full pay of $500.0.6. as Interpreter and was allowed to retain the office of Sheriff which was formerly held by me, and he shortly afterwards officiated as Coroner. I am considerably Senior in the service to Mr Lister and felt at the time that I was entitled to the same increase in my Interpreter's pay especially as I held a permanent appointment, having been in receipt of only a portion of the Salary of Assistant Harbor Master.
